The CSA Awards, organized by the Indonesian Securities Analysts Association (AAEI) and the CSA Community, is a prestigious awarding event that celebrates outstanding performance among listed companies in areas such as future profitability, shareholder transparency, Good Corporate Governance (GCG), stock liquidity, risk management, and ESG implementation.
Carrying the theme "Indonesia's Capital Market: Adapting and Evolving in Global Economic Changes," the CSA Awards this year emphasized the significance of sustainability in navigating global economic challenges.
Padwestiana Kristanti, Corporate Secretary of PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk said on Wednesday (20/11), “Unilever Indonesia has consistently integrated sustainability principles in all areas of our business operations. Beyond creating products that benefit consumers, we are committed to making a positive impact on the environment and society.”
Unilever Indonesia encourages the implementation of sustainability principles through four focus areas area: climate, nature, plastics and livelihoods. Notable initiatives include the adoption of renewable energy, regenerative agriculture, and significant plastic reduction efforts, which all contribute to achieving sustainability goals. Unilever Indonesia is also actively involved in various empowerment programs aimed at improving public welfare.
Unilever Indonesia has demonstrated significant progress in its sustainability efforts across multiple areas. In the realm of climate action, the company achieved an impressive 89.45% of reduction in carbon emissions between 2015-2023, including an 11.22% decrease in 2023 specifically within scope 1 and 2 emissions compared to the previous year. Additionally, the company has also excelled in plastic waste management, successfully collecting and processing 56,159-tons of plastic waste in 2023—exceeding the volume of plastic used in its product packaging.
As part of its efforts to protect and regenerate nature, one of the company’s initiatives is the use of tea in SariWangi, which carries Rainforest Alliance certification. On the focus of improving livelihoods, approximately 35,000 black soybean and sugar coconut farmers are actively involved in the Bango Soy Sauce supply chain, benefitting from the company’s Black Soybean Farmers Program.
To ensure governance excellence, the company conducts annual evaluations of its sustainability strategies, reviewed by the Board of Directors. These evaluations assess progress in achieving Unilever’s sustainability focus and the implementation of the Code of Business Principles (CoBP).
