NU Care-LAZISNU terima dana kemanusiaan dari Unilever Indonesia sebesar Rp 1,5 M

Jakarta, 12 January 2024 - NU Care-LAZISNU, a philanthropic institution under Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), has received a Rp 1,5 billion donation from Unilever Indonesia to assist communities affected by humanitarian conflicts. Moreover, NU Care-LAZISNU and Unilever Indonesia have also agreed on a five-year collaboration to strengthen social programs targeting NU community beneficiaries, including Islamic boarding schools.

The handover of the donation took place on Thursday (11/1) at the PBNU Building in Central Jakarta, attended by PBNU Vice Chairman Habib Muhammad Hilal Al Aidid, LAZISNU PBNU Secretary H. Moesafa, Unilever Indonesia Independent Commissioner Alissa Wahid, Unilever Indonesia Director and Corporate Secretary Nurdiana Darus, and Unilever Indonesia Director Willy Saelan.

Islamic brotherhood or Ukhuwah Islamiyah is one of the principles advocated by Nahdlatul Ulama. This is based on the belief that Muslims are like one body; if one part of the body is injured, the entire body feels the pain. Currently, many Muslim brothers and sisters are facing upheaval due to humanitarian conflicts. Therefore, assistance from Muslims worldwide is crucial to alleviate the suffering of those affected by humanitarian conflicts. Responding to this, NU Care-LAZISNU actively continues to distribute aid in humanitarian conflict areas in cooperation with various partners.

"NU always strives to be of service to people through various means, one of which is through NU Care-LAZISNU. To contribute to more communities, especially Muslims, we open collaborations, donations, and partnerships with those who care and have the same intention of helping alleviate the burden of our Muslim brothers and sisters in need. Today, Alhamdulillah, we once again receive goodwill from one of the companies that have long existed in Indonesia, namely Unilever Indonesia," said Chair of LAZISNU PBNU, Habib Ali Hasan Al Bahar.

As the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia, NU has a clear stance in defending humanitarian values because it is part of maqashidus sharia or the principal objectives of Sharia, namely hifdhuddin (protecting religion); hifdhul nafs (protecting life); hifdhul aql (protecting the mind); hifdhul maal (protecting wealth); and hifdhun nasl (protecting lineage).

NU Care-LAZISNU received a Rp 1.5 billion donation from Unilever Indonesia as a company committed to upholding humanitarian values. Both parties also signed a long-term Cooperation Agreement to collaborate on making positive changes to people’s welfare. The collaboration between NU Care-LAZISNU and Unilever Indonesia will focus on five pillars: education, health, economic empowerment, environment, and humanitarian efforts—aligned with NU Care-LAZISNU initiatives for the next five years.

Established in 2004, NU Care-LAZISNU has a service and management network for zakat, infaq, and sedekah spread across 376 regencies/cities and 34 provinces in Indonesia, even expanded to 29 countries - involving the participation of over 10 million volunteers. NU Care-LAZISNU has been trusted as a philanthropic institution that is accountable, transparent, trustworthy, and professional.

"We are concerned and saddened by the humanitarian conflicts that have claimed many civilian casualties. Our continuous concern is manifested in various forms including providing humanitarian aid. This time, together with NU Care-LAZISNU, we are channeling a donation of Rp 1.5 billion. Our prayers are ceaseless for those affected by conflicts in this extraordinarily difficult time," said Unilever Indonesia Director and Corporate Secretary Nurdiana Darus.

"May our joint efforts open the door to goodness and bring broader blessings. Not only for the supporters and beneficiaries but also to inspire more people to care for each other," concluded Chair of LAZISNU PBNU, Habib Ali Hasan Al Bahar.
