Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

We want to see a society where everyone is treated equally. We're working to create a fairer, more socially inclusive world.

Unilever is an open place for all. We are continuing to promote an inclusive social society that respects and upholds human rights. We don't have a biased or discriminatory perspective on religion, class, ethnicity, culture, gender, and persons with disabilities.

Globally, we have also set clear goals that will help us tackle inequality and drive inclusion by:

  • Achieving an equitable and inclusive culture eliminating any bias and discrimination in our practices and policies.
  • Accelerate diverse representation at all levels of leadership.
  • Ensure 5% of our workforce is made up of people with disabilities by 2025.
  • Spend €2 billion annually with diverse businesses worldwide by 2025.
  • Increase representation of diverse groups in our advertising

In Indonesia, we have enacted a series of commitments based on our three pillars of focus:

  • Gender Equality

We are targeting to provide “Bystander Intervention Training” to 4,000 women who are at the forefront of company operations and implement gender equality at the managerial level by 2025.
  • Equality for People with Disabilities

We pledge to provide access for individuals with disabilities in 100% of Unilever Indonesia’s facilities and full scholarships for five students with disabilities by 2025 as support for equality for persons with disabilities.
  • Elimination of Discrimination and Stigma

We are creating more initiatives within the company to increase the value of tolerance and eliminate discrimination as well as increase the representation of diversity in Unilever Indonesia’s brand advertisements by 2022.

Realize gender equality in the work environment

mewujudkan kesetaraan gender

We are committed to advancing gender equality in the workplace, consumers, and society. We believe that women and men have equal opportunities in careers in the company.

Five of our nine directors in Indonesia are women, including our President Director. Forty-two percent of our senior managers are also women. As a result, our efforts to continue balancing these gender gains are gaining worldwide recognition. Unilever Indonesia is the only Indonesian company in the list of the world's 100 most diverse and inclusive companies ranking; this is based on a Refinitiv survey of more than 7,000 companies in the world representing 70% market capitalization.

To protect the rights of women workers, we are also providing “Bystander Intervention Training” for 4,000 women at the forefront of the company's operations throughout Indonesia, until 2025.

Equal access for peoples with disabilities

We respect differences by eliminating negative stigma and discrimination in the workplace and society. For this reason, we continually strive to remove all the obstacles faced by people living with disabilities. In 2018, we set a goal to be the number one employer of choice for people with disabilities, and by 2025 we want to see them represent 5% of our workforce.

Akses yang sama untuk penyandang disabilitaes

To achieve this, we are opening up opportunities for the entire society and providing access for colleagues with disabilities to be involved in the activities we carry out, including being able to work with us.

We started this step a long time ago and our line of brands have supported this commitment by putting forward programs to boost the spirit of inclusiveness. For example, Rexona's #GerakTakTerbatas is a campaign that invites and facilitates all Indonesian people, including people with disabilities, to be more active in their movements: this campaign is supported by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and MRT Jakarta. Together with the National Foundation for the Development of Children with Disabilities (YPAC Nasional), Wall's also carries out the "Wall's Merah Putih unites us" campaign, which embraces children with disabilities and non-disabled people to interpret diversity and unity into happiness.

A more just and prosperous world

In conducting our business, we have guidelines to operate with ethical responsibility. By 2030, we are ensuring that everyone who provides goods and services directly to Unilever will earn at least a living wage or income.

Dunia yang lebih adil dan sejahtera

Furthermore, as a sustainable business, Unilever Indonesia is committed to providing welfare for all its stakeholders and the entire business chain. We therefore encourage inclusive business in line with our commitment to globally assist and develop five million small and medium enterprises by 2025. Some of the long-term programs we are developing to make this happen are:

  • Sahabat Warung, eRTM (eRoute to Market) program, which allows stores to connect digitally with Unilever when it comes to placing orders
  • Unilever Entrepreneurship Bootcamp #MudaMaslahat (Makmur, Sejahtera, Adil, and Sehat), which provides several training programs to increase the capacity of young entrepreneurs
  • Strengthening their networking to grow their businesses in the future.
